About Cochrane Power Corporation: A Legacy of Reliable Power Generation

Mission

Our mission is to provide power services to assist in ensuring stable electricity supply when it is needed most regionally and across the province.

Vision

Cochrane Power Corporation’s vision is to be an active participant in the power generation market in Ontario.

History

1989
Cochrane Power Corporation owner Northland Power constructed a 15MW wood biomass power plant to export electricity to the grid under a long term PPA with the Ontario Government. Phase 2 consisted of the addition of a 27MW natural gas turbine with steam injection, one of the few in the province to this day. The power plant operated from 1990 to 2015 under an agreement with the Ontario Government.

2022
Cochrane Power Corporation executed a Medium-Term Capacity (MTC) 1 contract with the IESO, and began refurbishment works on the natural gas turbine and related equipment
2023
Hydromega was acquired however Cochrane Power Corp was not included in the transaction. The co-founders and former principals of Hydromega retained ownership of the Company under Energaz Canada Inc.

2024
Testing and commissioning of the gas turbine were completed, and the MTC1 contract came into effect.
